Application and Fees

The Summer School is open to PhD students worldwide from political science, media and communication science, political philosophy and related disciplines. Participation is competitive and limited to a maximum of 25 doctoral students.

Submission and Notification

Interested doctoral students fill in this application form and submit it to the Summer School office. The deadline for application is 20 March 2017 (deadline extended). The workshop chairs will decide on the applications not later than 31 March; the Summer School office will inform the applicants. Those who have been offered places will be asked to confirm their participation by mid-April, after which those places will be offered to other applicants.

Fees

The registration fee is 650 CHF and includes: Accommodation, tuition, lunches, coffee breaks, and all group activities (reception, several social events). If no accommodation is needed, the fee is 450 CHF.

A reduced fee applies to doctoral students whose host institution is member of the Swiss PhD-Network Democracy Studies: 450 CHF (with accommodation), 250 CHF (without accommodation).

Terms and Conditions

Invoices will be sent immediately after confirmation of participation. The fee payment must be made by 15 May 2017.

  • Cancellations made prior to 21 May 2017: Full refund less an administrative charge of CHF50.00
  • Cancellations made between 21 May and 18 June 2017: Refund of fifty percent less an administrative charge of CHF50.00
  • Cancellations made after 18 June 2017: No refund to be made.

Participants registered for workshops cancelled by the Summer School organizers will be entitled to a full refund.

Visa

A letter confirming participation at the Summer School will be issued once the participant has paid the fee.

Grants

A limited number of grants will be available for outstanding participants who cannot get funding from their home institution or from elsewhere. There will be a separate application process (application form), but applying does not guarantee success. The deadline of application is 7 April 2017 (extended), notifications of acceptance will be sent by mid-April.
