Swiss Summer School on "Representation and Governance"

ETH Zurich

The 2016 Summer School will focus on challenges to representation in a globalizing world. It aims to enhance theoretical and empirical insights into how parliaments, parties and societies have responded to the shift of authority from national parliaments to international organizations. How this topic has been presented and discussed in the public arena and to what extent parliamentary representation can be reconstructed at the international level will be addressed in five sessions:

  • Concept and Theories of Political Representation
  • Technocracy, Populism and Stealth Democracy
  • Civil Society in Global Governance
  • National Parliaments: Reactions to Deparliamentarization
  • Reconstructing Representation in Global Governance

The Summer School provides a unique setting for junior scholars to discuss their research with renowned experts. For further information please visit the Summer School website.
