Hanspeter Kriesi was Director of the NCCR Democracy from 2005 until 2012. In 2012, he took up the chair for comparative politics at the European University Institute in Florence/Italy. From 2010–2015, he directed the European Social Survey – a social science study to map European citizens' understanding of democracy in 29 countries. He will present the findings of the study in his talk at the University of Zurich.

The talk was part of the series "Globalization, Mediatization and Populism: Challenges to Democracy in the 21st Century" to mark the conclusion of the NCCR Democracy research program.
